FAQ

Will Spaces and Places visit me and what is the fee?
Spaces and Places are happy to visit you at home. Generally we will spend 1 hour discussing and evaluating the needs of your landscape project. Your initial consultation is free of charge (within the Melbourne metro area). We will present to you an information pack that contains the various prices for the landscaping design process.

Can Spaces and Places oversee my whole project?
Yes, Spaces and Places are a fully qualified team who can develop your designs and construct your new garden. We pride ourselves on having the skills to complete the entire job. We can even co-ordinate all your council planning requirements, engineering plans, building inspections, lighting and plumbing needs. We rarley use sub-contractors, we do employ a range of people from landscape architects, architects, builders, carpenters, pool builders, landscapers etc. This bunch of people have such a diversity of skills between them – nothing is really too much of a challenge.

Can Spaces and Places do just the design or just the construction?
Yes, our design and construction teams operate independently. We can design or construct, with the flexibility to meet your needs.

How much does a pool cost?
The cost of a pool can vary greatly depending on the size, depth, finishings (pebble-mix vs fully tiled), heating and filtration components and so on. We have put together a spreadsheet to give you an idea of the costs involved for a standard sized pool – (coming really soon)

How much does a landscaped garden cost?
As with pools, the cost of a landscaped garden can vary greatly. Your choice of pavers, feature walls, decking timbers, irrigation systems, water tanks and plants can have a huge impact on the overall cost of a project. It’s like asking — How long is a piece of string? (However we are endeavouring to put some typical prices up on the web so that you have a good idea of what things cost before you embark on this journey.)

Have a look at this project (click on to open pdf) it describes very broadly some associated costs. When you start adding up all of the associated costs it does add up. Typically all components of a pool are variable, paving prices are variable, decking can also have a number of different prices, The creation of pool side pavilions can also vary depending on their complexity – doors openings etc.

That’s why the design is so important — it guides us and other construction companies in providing an accurate quote for your project.
